This was a shock to me. I stepped into this atrium space and saw this. Many years ago, my red-headed young wife was exactly there, in that spot, also by herself. Shining long red hair flowing and wearing shorts, Deja Vue.. |
It is wonderful to see that the artist saw exactly what one sees there today, on St Marcus Square, except for the sightseers' clothing, of course |

The ages of man and a fascinating and beautiful series of four paintings. Beginning with the baby in a world of beauty and discovery. It continues where the young man dreams of castles in the sky and all is full of hope and optimism. Next he finds himself rudely slammed into reality and all the difficulties that entails, with lots of prayer to get him through the rough spots. Finally, as the old man, the waters are calm again, but the horizon is dark and only the sky offers him further hope and release. |
I shot this, like all the others, hand-held without any camera/lens based stabilization, and I never use flash around works of art.
Of all the paintings to have copied, this would not be the one I would have chosen
